Holidays are coming. Holidays are coming...
Coca Cola can try all they want with their ads with trains and children in snow, but the only true drink for Christmas is Julmust! So there! For true Christmas fans, you can never start too early. I fall into the middle category and prefer to see the first of Advent as the official start date and will then go slightly insane. This year Advent falls on November 29th and if you aren't already equipped with the right gear, we have all kinds of candlesticks, candles and decorations.
If you missed the Christmas Fair at the Swedish Church then you can find almost as many goodies and definitely more fresh stuff at the shop. We are fully stocked with everything from Lucia-crowns and Staffan-hats, to Christmas spices and our Award Winning Salmon! Stocking fillers like Efva Attling jewellery and classic Swedish books.
December 1 is the deadline for our Christmas Wish list, in order to get everything here in good time. Delivery time is about 14 days, so for that Lucia party, you better get a move on! Perfect Christmas ham, rice pudding, brawn, ginger snaps... take the pain out of entertaining and do only the fun bits! For the perfect after work glögg party, cut Kavring into triangles, add a little butter and a slice of Kivik salmon, a lemon slice and a wisp of dill. A drop or two of gravlaxsås won't go amiss either, but not too much! It works better with champagne than glögg! Another no-brainer is Ginger snaps with stilton or any other blue cheese. King Oscar are extra spicy and provides the perfect backdrop for the cheese.
Christmas Buffé at Deep. For the 4th year running, Deep is holding a traditional and traditionally generous Christmas Buffé on December 6th, 13th and 20th from 12 noon to 8pm. The price is £37 pp, children under 5 go free and ages 6-12 pay only half price. The good people at Deep know how boring it can be to hang out at a never-ending eating session and are providing an arts & crafts corner with Christmas decoration making and films. Great initiative! Please note that the address is not at Deep, but at the Embassy Restaurant and Bar in Mayfair, 29 Old Burlington Street, W1S 3AN. To make a booking contact 07771 785033 or kerstin@deeplondon.co.uk.
Swedish Saffron. In case you ever wondered what's so special about the saffron we sell, we can reveal that it's Iranian saffron that is sold in Sweden, which is much more potent and fragrant than the Spanish counterpart you find in most other European countries. You need less for more taste. So if you ever made Lussebullar with saffron from your local shop and found them to get really pale and boring - now you know why!
Welcome to our shop!
