Summertime - and the living is easy...

Sorry, couldn't help myself - it's inevitable when the weather is hot and humid! Blessed as I am with incredibly bad weather-memory, I have no re-collection whatsoever about the cold spring and early summer, and instead am thoroughly enjoying this heat and the glorious Midsummer weekend, with daisy chains, snaps, strawberry cakes and children in white. We hope you all enjoyed the celebrations too, this year. And that you had a chance to try the Swedish new potatoes, totally superior, as I'm sure you know!
July in Sweden is completely dead, as it's traditionally the time when all factories closed. In that sense, it would be easy to imagine Sweden still being a country dependent on manufacturing industries, as reaching anybody at work during this time is virtually impossible. Here in London, it's business as usual and we are open 6 days a week. We'll be getting fresh foods as usual, including filmjölk, ice cream and fresh yeast. The most Swedish of summer lunches is a bowl of filmjölk with strawberries, Oat Crisps or Start, if you have a sweet tooth, a slice of crisp bread with with sliced falukorv or Kalles Kaviar... glorious. At the end of the month, we'll have cray fish too, ready for the celebrations. We'll save the party info for early September, as most London based Swedes will wait until then to hold parties in London. Keep an eye on the web site, as we'll be getting party supplies in. We'll as usual stock a nice selection of hostess gifts for all those lovely summer parties you'll be going to.
We'll be closed on Sundays in July & August, as it is the quiet season, as well as possibly closing for some well needed re-painting the first week of August. Do check the web site or call ahead so you don't find our door locked! The web shop is open as usual. We offer free delivery during our refurbishment (minimum order £20.00)
