Pickled Red Onions


1-2 large red onions, peeled and finely sliced
1 dl caster sugar
1/2 dl ättika 12% (Swedish spirit vinegar)
1 dl water



Pickled onions are amazing in tacos, burgers and salads - and it's super easy to make at home!

Bring the same amount of vinegar, water and sugar to a boil, stir until the sugar is dissolved. Take the pan off the heat and place the onions and leave it to cook down. Once cooled place onions topped with the liquid in a clean jar. Make sure the liquid covers the onion slices. Leave for a few hours, preferably overnight, before eating. Store in the fridge.

Top tip!
For a little extra sting: add some grated or chopped chillis, and/or a bayleaf and a clove of garlic.
