Oven-baked Falukorv Sausage with Västerbottensost Cheese and Apple

Oven-baked Falukorv sausage is one of the most popular traditional home-cooked dishes in Sweden. This recipe is made with Västerbottensost cheese which makes it extra tasty.

Serves 4
INGREDIENTS
Falukorv sausage (550 g)
1 Apple
3 - 4 tbsp Swedish mustard, (we stock mustards from Slotts and Johnny’s)
Västerbottensost cheese, sliced and approx. 100 ml grated

HOW TO:
Preheat the oven to 200 C.
Place the falu sausage in an oven-proof dish.
Cut notches into the sausage. Spread mustard in the notches. Cut the apple into thin slices and place a slice in every other notch.
Place thin slices of Västerbottensost cheese and place in the empty notches. Sprinkle the cheese on top of the sausage.
Bake in the middle of the oven for about 20 minutes or until nicely browned.
Serve with mashed potatoes.
Top tip!
Feel free to top the sausage with pickled onions and fresh herbs before serving.
